We have covered many solar chargers and cases for Kindle and other e-readers in the past. But Amazon is not going to release a solar Kindle anytime soon. A Solar powered ebook reader is already being tested in Finland. Leia ePaper has a 9.7 inch E-ink Triton color display. The device is powered exclusively by solar panels which happen to be located on the unit.

A solar e-book reader is not easy to make or everyone would be doing it. There are technical challenges involved in these types of projects. The weight and price of solar panels could always be an issue. The idea looks intriguing though. I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more for a solar-powered Kindle DX. How about you?
