The Nexus 7 is one of the best 7 inch tablets on the market. It is superior in many areas in comparison to the NOOK tablet and the Kindle Fire. But we already know that Amazon is planning to bring the Kindle Fire 2 to the market soon. Sources familiar with Amazon’s plans have told AllThingsD that the next generation Kindle Fire will be thinner and lighter with a much improved display.

The new Kindle will have a resolution of 1280 * 800 pixels. The display is going to be sharper and more square. The device is expected to debut in the second half of this year. The new Kindle Fire will be thinner and lighter too. A camera will be built-in as well. With the mini iPad on the way, and the Nexus 7 grabbing so much attention, Amazon will have to step it up to continue its great results in the tablet business.
