There was a time when folks relied on large paper dictionaries to look up words. These days, there are plenty of sites and apps that can help with that. You can find a ton of awesome dictionary apps in the app store. These 2 dictionaries help you identify connections among words in a visual fashion:

Wordflex Touch Dictionary: the ultimate dictionary for the iPad. It offers you a tree-based view of words. It is quite good looking and gesture-based. Wordflex offers Oxford’s dictionary/thesaurus titles in one title.

Visual Dictionary & Thesaurus: another decent visual dictionary with 190,000 words and 70,000 usage examples. It shows you connections among words too.

These visual dictionaries are great for looking up words and finding connections among them. They are great for those who are learning or researching the English language.
