NOOK Color, NOOK Tablet Get a Price Cut

Planning to buy a NOOK from B&N? There is some good news. B&N has given the NOOK Tablet and NOOK Color a discount. Considering the success that the Nexus 7 is having, this is not a surprise at all. NOOK Color and NOOK Tablet 8 GB are now selling for $149 and $179 respectively. The 16 GB version of NOOK Tablet is available for only $199.

Will this price cut be enough? It is highly doubtful. The Nexus 7 tablet has a huge advantage over the Kindle Fire and NOOKs. Could the recent moves in the e-reader and tablet business force B&N to get out of the hardware business completely? Google’s Nexus 7 is going to make Android tablets more popular. Unfortunately, some Android partners are running out of time.

NOOK Tablets are still great devices. But B&N is going to have a very difficult time selling them at the current price point. It will be interesting to see how Amazon’s new Kindle Fire tablets stack up against the Nexus 7 though.
