There are plenty of e-reader apps available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and other platforms. FBReader happens to be an open source e-book reading app that has been around for years. This is a multi-platform e-book reader with support for ePub, fb2, mobi, html, plain text, and a lot of other formats.

Mac

FBReader is highly customizable and lets you change its colors, fonts, animation, and other settings. The app is available for Android, Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, and BlackBerry 10. Calibre is still our favorite app for handling ebooks but FBReader does have some potential.
