Kindle Fire, Kindle Touch Now Shipping

After weeks of waiting, Kindle Fire and Kindle Touch buyers will soon get their devices in the mail. Amazon was always expected to start shipping new Kindle units to customers this week. We can now confirm that the orders we placed as soon as new Kindles went up for pre-order are now in “Shipping Soon” status. They are expected to be delivered in the next few days.

Kindle Fire and Kindle Touch target two different audiences. The Kindle Fire is a media consumption device for those who need an affordable tablet to watch movies, play games, and read newspapers/magazines on. The Kindle Touch is a touch-capable E-ink e-reader. It is interesting to note that Amazon has been offering major discounts on some Kindle Fire and Kindle Touch cases in the past few days.

Not every Kindle order is shipping this week. But those of you who ordered your devices early on should get them very soon. Some publishers have already received their test units which is encouraging to see.
