E-Ink Searching for Next Big Market?

E-ink should be familiar to those of you who own Kindles and NOOK e-readers. The company’s technology has allowed us to read on our e-readers and get a book like experience doing that. E-ink’s e-paper technology is quite exciting. But it is looking for the next big market to continue to grow.

We saw that our growth in the e-reader space has slowed, and revenue dipped… In the past one or two years, we’ve been saying that we need to get into a lot of other things.

E-ink is expected to reveal a number of new concepts at Display Week. These will be very much different from the e-book readers we have come to love in the past few years. Energy saving traffic lights and E-ink-based smartphones are all exciting projects. E-ink is expected to get in even more markets including shopping and fitness niches.

E-ink’s revenue growth may have slowed down. But the technologies the company has been working on are exciting. Let’s hope E-ink get its color e-paper technology right.
