There are millions of ebooks available for purchase or download online. Amazon has over 775K titles in its store. Its competitors have impressive numbers of ebooks available too. But there will always be some books that you won’t find on these sites. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could create your very own e-book from a paper book without too much hassle? Ion Audio’s Book Saver has you covered. It is an innovative solution that allows users to take their book libraries digital.

Book Saver has two cameras that take pictures of book pages rapidly and save users time scanning books. These cameras are flash-capable. Book Saver’s cradle allows users to scan their books without having to hold down their pages to make them flat. The scanned files can be saved to SD cards easily. Ion claims it takes less than 15 minutes to convert a 200-page book to an e-book. In a perfect world, book owners won’t get in trouble for using this device (fair use).

These types of devices are nothing new. While they are not perfect by any means, they can be quite handy for college students, educators, and researchers. Book Saver is not 100% automatic, but it could make a difference. It is expected to go on sale some time in April.

Are you impressed?
