Apple Claims 20% of eBook Market

ibooks

Apple announced a couple of days ago that iBooks is coming to Mac desktops. The introduction of OS X Mavericks brings a number of other exciting changes to the platform. iBooks users will now be able to read their library on their Mac more conveniently. Readers can shop on their computers for books and consume them on their iOS device. The idea is not new considering that Amazon and other companies have been offering apps for multiple platforms for a while now.

So why is Apple focusing even more on the e-book market? As Paid Content has reported, Apple now holds 20% of the U.S. ebook market. The information comes from a U.S. vs. Apple court hearing. Of course, we don’t have more data to back that up. But if true, Apple’s iBookstore is far from a failure. No wonder Apple is pushing even harder to advance its position in this market.
