We all remember how Steve Jobs used to make fun of e-readers in the past. He was confident at the time that people didn’t read anymore. Research has shown that many Kindle and iPad owner spend a good amount of time on their devices to read e-books. Of course, not everyone likes to read long books all the time. That’s why Apple has added Quick Reads to iBookstore.

Titles in this section sit somewhere between long books and short articles on the web. Amazon already has a short section for Kindle owners (Kindle Singles). Apple could be using Quick Reads to go after those who just don’t have time to dedicate time to reading thick books.

At this point, it is not clear how much success Apple will have with Quick Reads titles. Its iBookstore service may not be most popular e-book store around but it has been growing. Will Quick Reads take it to the next level? We will have to wait and see.
