Amazon To Launch a 8.9 Inch Kindle Fire in 2012

As Jeff Bezos has indicated a number of times, Amazon intends to be profitable in both the hardware and content markets. It is no secret that Amazon is losing money everytime it sells a new Kindle Fire. That won’t stop Amazon from bringing a new Kindle Fire in 2012. According to Digitimes, the Kindle Fire 2 will have a 8.9 inch screen. Allegedly, Amazon is desperate to differentiate its tablet from the likes of the iPad.

We first heard about Kindle tablets a few months ago. At the time, it was suggested that Amazon was going to test the waters with its budget tablet before rolling out a premium one in 2012. The Kindle Fire has generated a lot of buzz for Amazon. But it probably won’t be enough for Amazon to position itself as a legitimate alternative to Apple in the tablet market.

Amazon is not stopping with tablets. The company is also planning to bring a Kindle phone to the market. The war between Apple and Amazon is only going to escalate in 2012. We are just disappointed that Amazon may not offer a 10 inch tablet in 2012. How about you?
