Remember the NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight? Tablets have been in the news a whole lot more but B&N has discounted the device. You can now pick one up for $99. That by itself is not the exciting news though. The discount does make this NOOK cheaper than the Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo Glo but it also suggests that new NOOKs could be on the way soon.

At just $99, our high-quality, top-rated NOOK Simple Touch GlowLight is an unbeatable value for customers who are seeking an unparalleled, pure reading experience that goes from beach to bed, day or night

said Michael P. Huseby, President, Barnes & Noble, Inc. & CEO, NOOK Media LLC. B&N has announced that it will stop developing tablets in-house. It does plan to continue manufacturing e-book readers though. E-readers have lost a lot of market share to tablets in the past couple of years. The new NOOKs will have their fans but can B&N keep up with Amazon? That remains to be seen.
