Nook Touch Has Hidden Web Browser?

For a long time, NOOK has been behind the scorecards against Kindle. B&N has done a marvelous job pushing Amazon in the e-reader market though. NOOK Simple Touch, B&N’s latest e-book reader, has enough features to be considered equal to Kindle 3. It is a touch-enhanced e-book reader that is more compact than Kindle. Unlike what many have assumed, it happens to have a web browser too.

Manufacturers hide features in their devices from time to time only to unveil those features with software upgrades when the time is right. In this day and age, one can’t get away with that. The folks at The Ebook Reader have put the above demonstration together to show how NOOK Simple Touch’s browser works. You will have to enter the URL you want to navigate to in your search box to get going.

At this point, it is not clear what B&N’s plans are for NOOK 3’s browser. The browser does seem to have some short-comings and is probably an experimental feature and a work in progress. B&N will be better off improving this browser and fully activating it with an update in the near future though.
