People buy tablets and Kindles for all kinds of reasons. Some use them to get their work done while others play games and read books on them. The Kindle Fire HDX and its big brother are fast Android tablets optimized for gaming. As the latest survey by App Annie indicates, many Kindle owners use their device to play games. iPads are still king for gamers. But among Android gamers, Kindle beats other Android tablets.

The data is from the App Annie & IDC Portable Gaming Report for Q3 2013. The survey found that audiences for Android and iPad games were similar. Android may have a bigger market share than iOS but Apple is still winning the revenue game.
