Playing word games on your iPad is one way to get more out of your device. Word games can not only help you expand your vocabulary, they may get you in the right mood too. Here are 10 fun iPad word games that do just that:

Crosswords: one of the best crosswords application available for iPad. It gives you access to a ton of crosswords on a daily basis. Its hints are quite helpful too.

Scrabble for iPad: if you thought Scrabble for Kindle was nice, wait till you play this game on your iPad. It has stunning graphics and lets you play 25 multiplayer games at a time. It is a great learning tool too.

WordMaster XL: the perfect tool to solve complex word puzzles. It covers over 400K words. Great tool to study and learn new words with.

Ultimate Hangman for iPad: one of the best hangman applications available for iPad. The game itself should not need any introduction. It does have 4 different schemes though.

Word Detective for iPhone: a word puzzle game that challenges you and expands your vocabulary based on your topic of interest. It has 4 difficulty levels.

Cryptogram for iPhone: compatible with both iPhone and iPad. Has a classical look and feel to it. It has hundreds of puzzles for users to tackle.

Lingo HD: a good looking word game that will test your vocabulary and problem solving skills. It has 200,000 entries ranging from 5 to 12 letters and has multiple difficulty levels.

Text Twist 2: your goal is to come up with words out of the letters provided to progress to longer words. It has multiple exciting modes and thousands of words.

Words with Friends: a super fun application that allows you to play crossword games with friends and family members online. It has a social aspect to it too.
