The Old Reader To Stay Open?

old reader

We reported a few days ago that the Old Reader was in trouble. The service had attracted way too many people too fast. Even though it is not my favorite RSS reader, it is nice to see that TOR will stay open to the public for now. Here is a message that the new team has posted to TOR’s blog:

We’re pleased to announce that The Old Reader will officially remain open to the public! The application now has a bigger team, significantly more resources, and a new corporate entity in the United States. We’re incredibly excited to be a part of this great web application and would like to share some details about its future as well as thank you for remaining loyal users. We’re big fans and users of The Old Reader and look forward to helping it grow and improve for years to come.

The Old Reader is going through growing pains at this point. The service will need a better web host and some work to stay relevant. Major outages in the future are only going to turn people off. I would like to know more about TOR’s business plan before getting too excited about the product.
