Sony Reader PRS-T2 Coming

Remember the Sony Reader? The company may have lost its edge in the e-book reader market. But it is still making quality e-readers. In fact, multiple sources are reporting that Sony is getting ready to launch the next generation Reader PRS-T2 to the market soon. It has already shown up at the FCC website and is described as a digital book reader with Wireless N capability.

Sony Reader PRS-T1 is currently available for around $130. It is a 6 inch e-reader with a 600 * 800 E-ink display. It is not exactly competitive against e-readers offered by Amazon and B&N. The new model is expected to offer more features for a lower price. I still do not expect Sony’s new Reader to gain enough traction.

Sony was rumored to be thinking about pulling out of the e-reader business to focus mainly on developing Android tablets. It seems that is not happening for now. How long Sony will stay involved in this market is another story though.
