PocketBook To Release 13.3″ CAD Reader?

The idea of a company bringing a large e-ink device to the market is not new. We have seen these ideas a number of times in the past. The latest news coming from E-ink suggests that PocketBook will be releasing a 13.3″ CAD reader using E-ink’s Fina technology. As the name implies, this device could be useful for designers, engineers, and other professionals.

The PocketBook device will offer:

  • Android 4.0
  • 13.3″ E-ink display
  • 1600 * 1200 resolution
  • dual core 1GHz processor
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 16 GB of storage space
  • 8000 mAh battery

Here is how E-ink explains what Fina offers:

Fina is a glass based TFT technology that uses a very thin glass substrate to deliver products that are much lighter and thinner than what is possible with standard LCD displays. Fina displays weigh less than 50% of the weight of an equivalent glass based TFT and are less than 50% of the thickness as well. This is particularly important for mobile products requiring larger display areas. A 13.3″ Fina display module, installed in the PocketBook CAD Reader, weighs approximately 60 grams.

Let’s not forget this is not an e-book reader but I wish it were. The device will be on display on December 5th.
