Kobo Vox, Kindle Fire Alternative, Revealed

Amazon may have all the momentum with its new Kindles but other e-reader makers are not just watching. We have known for quite some time that Kobo is planning to bring an alternative to Kindle Fire to the market. The Kobo Vox has been prematurely leaked on a product page at Future Shop. It is a 7 inch color-screen tablet with WiFi.

According to the product page, Kobo Vox will have a 7-inch screen with 1024 x 600 resolution. It will offer WiFi b/g/n. Kobo Vox is also rumored to be compatible with the Android Market (it most likely runs Honeycomb). The device is expected to start shipping on October 17 (a few weeks earlier than the new Kindles). It will cost just under CA$250. Here are the full specifications for the device:

Kobo will have to drop its price to make its tablet more competitive against the Kindle Fire. Kobo Vox seems to have some potential but with new NOOKs and Kindles coming out, it will have a difficult time gaining momentum.
