Is It Just Me…

The inauguration of President Obama was truly a historic event for every American. But as I was watching the inauguration in my office with a Kindle in my hand, I thought to myself “wouldn’t it be nice to see the inauguration on my Kindle?”

I know a lot of experts argue that Kindle doesn’t need video. I personally disagree. I believe Kindle needs to add color, and it needs to support video. Video-books are not the next big thing. They are already here.

Adding video capabilities to Kindle will probably make the device more expensive. There are also experts who suggest adding video to Kindle will blur the lines between Kindle and a handheld computer. I personally don’t think there is such a line. Some experts are talking about Apple moving into the ebook business, and lot of folks already use their UMPCs to read ebooks. The difference is that Kindle is a connected device that is easy on the eye too. And let’s not forget about the Kindle store (being able to get books in 30 seconds).

Jeff Bezos wants to give content publishers as many distribution channels as possible. Why not provide video bloggers an opportunity to reach Kindle owners?

Your Take: Should Amazon add full video support for Kindle?
