iriver Cover Story Coming Soon?

iRiver may have not been able to put up a decent challenge against Kindle and other top e-readers with its own products. That won’t keep it from trying to bring its iRiver Coverbook Story e-reader to the U.S. market. The device has shown up in the FCC’s testing database. That could easily mean we are only a short while away from this e-reader making its way to the market.

iriver Cover Story WiFi has a 6 inch resistive touchscreen e-ink display. It will come with its own stylus to give its users the chance to take notes and draw on their e-book reader. The device takes advantage of Samsung ARM11 S3C6431 processor and has a Linux-based O/S.

There is no word on when this device will be released to the market but it could be very soon. Is it something to be excited about? It all comes down to how it will be priced and what content networks will be available to the device. The touch-screen feature is something Amazon can probably add to its next generation Kindle, though we won’t be holding our breath.
