The way companies are jumping on the e-reader movement’s bandwagon and developing their own devices, one would think that one day we could have more e-book readers than actual books. That’s obviously not possible but everybody seems to be making e-book readers these days. You can now add Aigo to the list as well. Aigo is in the process of introducing an ebook reader (EB6301) that will essentially be a poor man’s Kindle. It does come with a 6 inch display, and it does support Doc and PDF.

Aigo’s ebook reader comes with an interesting set of navigation buttons and doesn’t look too revolutionary. But it will cost you about $370 if you pick it up in China. One shouldn’t expect this e-book reader to be a Kindle or Nook killer. But it will certainly has its appeal for the China market. As you may know, Kindle is not exactly friendly towards foreign language books, though Amazon is aiming to bring foreign language books to the Kindle platform soon.

Kindle may be a killer device in this side of the world, but it would not be surprising to see local e-book makers have success in their own markets. Going truly international with a device such as Kindle is not easy and will take time. That does give companies such as Aigo to pounce. Of course, EB6301 doesn’t look too exciting. Not when we have so many e-book readers to choose from.
