Android 4.2 For the NOOK Tablet

NOOK Tablets are pretty decent devices, even though they run a modified version of Android. B&N is focusing most of its effort on pushing NOOK HD and HD+ Tablets these days. But the older NOOK Tablet makes a great test subject for running Android hacks. XDA Developers’ Kuzma30 has published an unofficial CyanogenMod 10.1 that brings Android 4.2 to NOOK tablets. This will support Android 4.2’s keyboard, lock screen widgets, notifications, and more.

This is not a perfect solution though. The microphone does not work and the video leaves a lot to be desired. As Liliputing has reported, video playback needs some work too. This does seem like an interesting hack for the NOOK Tablet. Just make sure you know the risks before taking on such a project.
