prime

Another day, another Amazon phone rumor. Amazon has already released a few Kindle Fire tablets in the past couple of years. It has the know-how to make its phone a success. But releasing a phone is a bit different than selling tablets. Bloomberg is now reporting that Amazon will be releasing a Prime device. Amazon Prime has gone through changes over the past few years. At first, it was all about fast shipping. Amazon Prime members now get free videos, e-books, and other content.

Amazon and HTC are allegedly discussing three phones. Bloomberg explains that a final decision on this project has not been made. By tying Amazon Prime’s services into its phone plans, Amazon is going to get more people to consume its content. The strategy does seem a bit curious. It could be that Amazon offers a year of Amazon Prime membership to new Prime phone users. We will have to wait and see how this turns out.
