Amazon Kindle 2.5 Comes a Bigger Screen

Earth's Biggest Book Selection

In the past few weeks, we have heard about all these companies that will be entering the e-book market to try and come up with a Kindle killer. But as things stand right now, Kindle is in a class of its own. Amazon is now planning to take its game to the next level by introducing a bigger and possibly better Kindle. There have been reports all over the web about the next Amazon Kindle and its properties. You don’t need to tell me how great the Kindle is, but a lot of folks have been complaining about the small screen. The emergence of devices such as Plastic, also, has made Amazon think about its line up.

In reality, Amazon is taking a page out of the Apple’s playbook. Apple is known for having the best timing when launching its new product lines. Apple always has something new for you for the holidays. So it’s no surprise that Amazon is planning to introduce this new king-size Kindle right before the shopping season. I did expect Amazon to introduce two new products in February, but now we know what it has been holding out for.

Amazon has been testing color Kindle for a few months now. But it has been unable to find a way to introduce a budget friendly color Kindle to the market. It’s also safe to assume that Kindle 2.5 has been in the works for quite a while. The question at this point is whether we will see Kindle 3.0 (w/ color) in March 2010. And if so, whether one should even consider upgrading to Kindle 2.5. Unless Amazon introduces a color screen with Kindle 2.5, I am not sure it’ll be worth upgrading to for Kindle 2.0 owners. It’s all speculation at this point, but it gives all of us Kindle fans something to think about for the next few weeks and months.
