First Thoughts On Digg Reader

Digg Reader is in the process of being rolled out. Those of you who signed up for the service early should have gotten your activation link by now. You can create a new account by connecting your Google Reader account. Digg Reader will try to import your Google Reader feeds first. It did take me a few times to get Digg Reader to catch all my feeds.

Digg Reader is a work in progress. I would love to be able to search through my feeds like I used to do with Google Reader. I did not appreciate the fact that the service changed the order of my feeds. The layout is quite clean though. The “Popular” stories section makes finding trending articles a tad bit easier. Twitter and Facebook integration is a plus.

Digg Reader remains a work in progress. It needs many more features to be truly useful to bloggers like me. Considering the amount of time Digg had to develop this solution, I am willing to cut it some slack. Digg has hinted at Digg Reader being a freemium service. Details are sketchy on that at this time.
