Carry your library in 10.2 ounces

If you have been following Amazon Kindle’s progress in the past few years, you are well familiar with E-ink technology. It’s one of the biggest reasons we all get to enjoy on e-books as much as we do. The company behind the technology has just been sold to PVI. PVI is an ePaper screen maker that has agreed to buy E-Ink for $215 million. That’s certainly an interesting move and one that lead to more energy efficient e-book readers being released to the market.

The world is searching for green technology that saves energy and cuts waste and still provides an outstanding experience….With a common ownership structure, we can get closer to customers around the world.

PVI has promised to work on more energy efficient solutions for consumers. And it is expected to retain major E-ink employees and provide a boost in funding for research and development of new technologies. The new company will continue to support 20+ ebook reader manufacturers on the market. But the good news from this deal is that we can expect even better support behind this wonderful technology. Other than that, there doesn’t seem to be any major changes in the works, at least at the moment.
