Kindle Publishing Platform Worries Bloggers

A few days ago, I had a chance to review Amazon Kindle’s publishing platform that allows anyone to list their blogs on Amazon and share them with the Kindle community. Kindle publishing platform makes it so easy to add a blog or even a book to Kindle store. But that seems to be the problem for many bloggers. TechCrunch’s troubles with the platform has exposed a major flaw in it. It’d be too easy to submit someone else’s blog if there were no verifications. Now I don’t have to tell you that TechCrunch is a huge blog. If you try to abuse the system using top blogs, you are probably going to get caught. But can we say the same about smaller, not-so-popular blogs?

It’s essential for Amazon to verify ownership before listing blogs in Kindle store. Amazon can always try what Technorati and other top blogging services do (asking bloggers to add a meta tag to their blog for verification purposes). There are tens of other ways to do this process but something needs to be done!

To their credit, Amazon people are working hard to improve the process and add proper checks to protect smaller blogs as well larger portals. But that will take sometime. At this point, larger blogs are more susceptible to this issue. Let’s face it. TechCrunch and sites like it can actually make a few bucks by selling subscriptions on Kindle store which is more than I can say for smaller blogs such as this. 🙂
