B&N is not going to let its NOOK family to be upstaged by the Google Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD. The company has introduced a pair of new NOOK tablets. The 7 inch NOOK HD and the 9 inch NOOK HD+ are designed to target the Kindle Fire HD family specifically. They both have high definition screens and are priced very competitively against the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 products.

These NOOKs offer quality screens, lighter weights, and a custom Android skin. The NOOK HD has a 1440 x 900-resolution screen, which makes it superior to what you get on competing devices. Both tablets have fast dual-core processors and 1 GB of RAM. Buyers can expand their storage using microSD slots. Both devices use Android 4.0 at this point.

The NOOK HD and HD+ will be selling for $199 and $269 respectively. Best of all, there are no ads available on the device. You can pre-order them now but they will start shipping in a few weeks.
