B&N: New Tablet with Revolutionary Screen?

This is the time of the year when we are going to hear about e-reader makers’ upcoming plans. We already know that Amazon may be close to bringing a Kindle w/ front-lit screen to the market. B&N seems to be planning to go one step further. As CNET has reported, a credible source is claiming that Barnes & Noble is set to bring out a 7 inch e-reader with a “revolutionary screen technology.”

The source claims the technology was developed in-house by Barnes & Noble and is not seen in another product. B&N also plans to expand the NOOK Store to add more media options. Considering the partnership between Microsoft and B&N, it would not be surprising if B&N’s new tablet has an Xbox Live option.

It is hard to predict what B&N is up to at this point. It could always go with Pixel Qi that has a new high resolution screen that matches the screen resolution of the new iPad. The company could always surprise us by adopting a flexible display for its tablet. We will have to wait and see.

What’s your guess?
