Why The New iPad Was Disappointing

Apple finally announced its next generation tablet yesterday. The new iPad has a faster processor, higher resolution display, better battery, and neat features such as Voice Dictation. Apple seems to have stopped using numbers to name its tablets. That is going to cause some confusion among consumers. But Apple still has not taken steps to offer its fans convenient features such as more ports on the device.

The new iPad is impressive in many ways. The retina display is beautiful. The form factor is already quite popular among tablet fans. So Apple does not feel like changing a winning game at this point. But the device did not get the Haptic feedback technology that many of us were expecting. Apple could have been more aggressive with the way it has priced its tablets too.

The new iPad did not get full support for Siri. That could always be offered in the future though. Many Apple fans were expecting to get their hands on smaller iPads. We did not hear anything about that either. Let’s make no mistake about it. The new iPad will sell like hot cakes. Apple did offer enough upgrades to make this worth buying for many existing iPad owners. But the iPad still does not have a USB or HDMI port. The platform remains as closed as ever before. The iPad 2 did not get enough of a price cut to challenge the Kindle Fire directly. We still wouldn’t be surprised if the new iPad becomes the best selling Apple tablet to date very quickly.
