WaffleTodos To-Do App for Kindle Touch Released

No device is unhackable. That applies to the Kindle Touch as well. Amazon Kindle Touch was first hacked a few days ago. We are already seeing developers introduce useful apps for the device. WaffleTodos is a to-do application that uses a flaw in the Kindle software to run. The fact that the mp3 player app on the Kindle Touch treats file names as HTML makes it possible for Kindle owners to gain root access on their devices.

WaffleTodos is still in beta but should run on any Kindle Touch at this point (hacked or not). The app has two pieces: an mp3-named file, and the app. All you have to do is add the “mp3” file to your Kindle’s music folder and WaffleTodos to your top level directory. Once you launch to-dos from your Kindle’s mp3 player, you are golden. Pretty neat hack if you ask me.
