Kobo Touch Edition Hits The FCC

It is that time of the year again: when e-reader makers preview or release their next generation e-readers to the market. While we are surprised that Amazon has not given us even a hint about the future Kindle, the introduction of NOOK 3 has more than made up for that. Kobo is not giving up on the market though. Kobo’s next e-reader has already hit the FCC, and it will be a touch device (Kindle 4 will most likely be a touch device too).

Kobo Touch Edition will go head to head with NOOK’s new e-reader. It will have a 6 inch touch screen with a Freescale 508 chip inside. Unlike Kindle, Kobo’s e-reader will support both PDF and EPUB formats. Here are the full specifications for this device:

  • 6″ Pearl high contrast E Ink display
  • 6 Level Grey scale screen
  • Freescale 508 Processor
  • 802.11b/g/n
  • 2 GB in memory
  • 1 month of battery life
  • available in 4 colors
  • 4.5 in. X 6.5 in. (W * H)

The device will be up for grabs for $129.99 on Borders.com. It is not superior to NOOK 3 though. Could it be that it is a bit overpriced?
