Amazon Kindle + Pulse Smartpen: Marriage Made In Heaven?

Livescribe 1GB Pulse Smartpen (APA-00001)

A friend of mine told me about Pulse Smartpen a while ago. It was being presented at DEMO conference last year. I didn’t really think much of it at the time. I thought it was a nice idea that wouldn’t catch fire. But after having tried it for a while, I have seen enough potential to call this an almost must have for innovators and book lovers.

You may have seen Pulse commercials on TV. They usually involve someone talking too fast in a crowd and someone else capturing everything they have said using the microphone on this pen. But there is more to Pulse that meets the eye. For starters, you can give presentations from anywhere around the world. You write on a paper, and your movements are recorded as well as your sound. Then, you can upload the whole captured video to the web and share it with others.

Pulse Pen is also great for taking notes and writing down ideas. I remember when I was reading The Ten Faces of Innovation a few years back. I still have the 100 pages of notes that I wrote down for future references. With Pulse Pen, it all would have been easier (and in digital form too!).

The only downside to Pulse Smartpen is that it’s a bit pricey. But then again, with all the features that you get, it’s well worth it. Let’s not forget that Kindle is a bit pricey too! 🙂

Your Take: what do you think of Pulse Smart Pen? Is it worth the money?
