Kindle Users Will Get To Borrow Library Books

Amazon may have not released any information about Kindle 4 so far. But it has made a couple major moves to take its platform to the next level. Kindle with special offers is certainly an interesting deal for Kindle fans. Now the company has announced that Kindle users will get to borrow books from libraries. Over 11,000 local libraries are part of this new project.
We’re excited that millions of Kindle customers will be able to borrow Kindle books from their local libraries… Normally, making margin notes in library books is a big no-no. But we’re extending our Whispersync technology so that you can highlight and add margin notes to Kindle books you check out from your local library. Your notes will not show up when the next patron checks out the book. But if you check out the book again, or subsequently buy it, your notes will be there just as you left them, perfectly Whispersynced,
said Jay Marine, Director, Amazon Kindle. Amazon will be working with Overdrive to make this project possible. Amazon is doing some catching up with this move. B&N Nook, Kobo, and Sony Reader owners have been able to borrow books from libraries for a while now. As Jay suggested, Amazon is doing something extra here. If you choose to borrow books and take notes on them on your Kindle, your notes will show up as long as you borrow the book again or choose to buy it.
Not everyone is going to be happy with this move. Some large publishers have gone out of their way to put limits on how many times people can borrow their e-books. Borrowing e-books from libraries on e-reader devices is not going to be perfect anytime soon. But it is nice to have the option at this point.
