Kindle Paperwhite 3 with Flexible Display Coming?

Is Amazon building a Kindle with a flexible display? We know that E-ink and Sony have a flexible display technology that could technically be used in future Amazon e-readers. We have even seen a number of European e-readers with flexible displays. But is Amazon planning to bring one onto the market this year? Here is what Good E-reader had to say about it:

A source within Amazon has disclosed to Good e-Reader that the upcoming Kindle Paperwhite 3 will use new screen technology. The entire e-reader will be lighter than previous models, have higher resolution and incorporate a flexible display.[…] The Kindle Paperwhite 3 will be using screen technology that was developed by e Ink and Sony called Mobius.

I simply don’t think it is going to happen. It simply feels too soon for Amazon to make this move. Besides, we have heard a ton about Kindles with color E-ink displays. That didn’t happen either. It is hard to say whether something like this could happen soon since I really don’t know. But we can look at the trends and how Amazon has improved the Kindle family over the years. It simply feels too soon for the company to go ahead with this move. But we could always get a pleasant surprise.
