Hacking Kindle – Running Ubuntu on Kindle

Amazon may be trying to exert as much control as possible on its platform, but there are people out there who get a real kick out of hacking devices such as Kindle. Take Jesse Vincent for instance. He has not only managed to hack Kindle, he is running Linux on the device. Now I’d be the first to tell you that I would be even more excited about this development if Amazon Kindle came with a more capable hardware. Nevertheless, it’d be interesting to see how Amazon responds to people hacking its device. We all know how Apple hates people jail-breaking its iPhone. My guess is hacking your Kindle will only void your warranty (which is not more than a year anyway).
Watch a presentation on “hacking Kindle” after the break:

Hacking Kindle sounds like a lot of fun, so if you are technical enough to do it, go for it. And don’t forget to share your stories here.
