Samsung Galaxy Tab To Challenge Kindle

The iPad may have stolen some of Kindle’s thunder, but it won’t be the only LCD tablet to go after E-ink e-readers. Samsung Galaxy Tab is another exciting tablet that offers a color display and packs a lot of features. For starters, it runs Android, which sets it apart from iPad. Samsung Galaxy Tab has a 7 inch color screen with 1024 x 600 resolution and 16 million colors. It has two cameras too.

Samsung’s Android tablet supports Wi-Fi and HSDPA. Unlike Apple products, it is compatible with Adobe Flash too. The battery life won’t come anywhere close to what you can get with Kindle though.

Here is a summary of what’s included in this tablet:

  • Processor: ARM Cortex A8 1GHz
  • Storage: 16GB
  • Display: 7 inch TFT LCD
  • Connectivity:  3G, BT 3.0
  • OS: Android 2.2
  • Cameras: 3.2 megapixel (2048 x 1536 pixels) and 1.3 megapixel (for video)
  • VibeTonz Effects

Samsung Galaxy is roughly the same size as Kindle and does have a lot of merits. It is still not a dedicated e-reader. It won’t be cheap either. Of course, no one expects people to pick this device up just to read e-books.

Apple is expected to offer its own 7 inch tablet in the near future, so Kindle and nook will have even more LCD challengers next year. We do know that Amazon has been working on some secret hardware. Will the company release its own LCD tablet? We will have to wait and see.
