By now, it is no secret that B&N will introduce a new NOOK tablet on November 7th. Amazon has managed to grab all the headlines with Kindle Fire. NOOK Color 2 will keep B&N competitive. NOOK Color 2, which will start shipping on November 16th, will have a 7 inch IPS color screen, a 1.2 dual core CPU, 1 GB RAM, and 16 GB of storage. The price will remain unchanged at $249.

According to multiple reports, the device will look similar to its predecessor. But it will get additional software apps such as Hulu Plus, Rhapsody, Pandora, and many more. In the meantime, B&N plans to reduce the original NOOK Color’s price to $199. NOOK Simple Touch is also getting a price drop, going for $99 in the future.

As SlashGear’s report suggests, B&N plans to promote NOOK Color 2 as being better than the Kindle Fire. There is no doubt that barring a disaster for Amazon, Kindle Fire will outperform NOOK Color 2 in sales. But this cheap dual core tablet by B&N is worth a serious look.
