If you have been holding out to get your hands on the new “Kindle 2.1,” today’s is your day. Amazon has just announced that it will be shipping the new Kindles on a first come first serve basis. If you do happen to have Amazon Prime, you can get your Kindle in as few as 2 days. The good news is that you don’t have to be in the U.S. to order one of these. The new Kindle will most likely ship to your place, unless you live in one of those countries that are not covered by Amazon.

While Kindle 2.0 and Kindle 2.1 are essentially similar, there are a few differences that you need to know about before parting with your hard-earned money. It’s nice to have the option to download books internationally, but you will need to pay a few extra Kindle fees, so the process is a bit more complicated. The new Kindle does use AT&T’s wireless service but don’t expect to get anything extra from it if you live in the U.S.

All in all, Kindle with international wireless service is designed for people who spend a lot of time in foreign countries. While it’s nice to have the global connection on your device, you will simply not need it if you don’t intend to travel outside the U.S. on a regular basis. So you may want to save your money and get a Kindle 3.0 next year if you are not too fond of international traveling.
