Kindle Paperwhite vs. Surface, iPad Mini Reviews Positive

The Kindle Paperwhite and Microsoft Surface are both great devices. One is a great e-ink e-reader while the other is a shiny tablet with Windows RT on-board. One does not have to be a genius to realize there are major differences between these two devices. The Surface is a real tablet capable of running sophisticated apps. The Kindle Paperwhite happens to be an affordable e-reader with a brilliant display that works well under sunlight. The folks at Good eReader have put together a video review comparing these two (though the Kindle Fire would have been a better choice):

The Surface has a much more powerful processor and costs a whole lot more. It is designed to go head to head with the iPad. The device costs at least $499. The Kindle Paperwhite is available for $119. The iPad mini sits somewhere in between. It is a shiny mini tablet by Apple with a 7.9 inch display and starting price of $329. The reviews for the device have been positive so far:

Sitting in a cramped airline seat, or lying in bed, I found reading on the Mini to be a generally a more pleasurable experience than reading on the full-size iPad. But though you can now more easily hold a Mini with one hand, I still tended to use two.

explained USA Today’s Ed Baig. The iPad mini won’t replace a full iPad completely but comes close:

If you want the full, polished Apple tablet experience in a smaller package, the iPad Mini is worth the premium price. Otherwise, good alternatives are available for less money.

stated CNET’s Scott Stein . The iPad mini is not for everyone. But if you have been dying to get your feet wet with iOS and don’t want to spend $500 to get started, this gadget is worth paying attention to. Which one of these tablets should you go with? It all comes down to your needs.
