It is no secret that Internet service providers in the U.S. have adopted a 6 strikes policy when it comes to combating piracy. Comcast users who are caught of illegally downloading movies, TV-shows, and music will receive a browser notification, a voice-mail message, and an email detailing the file that was shared.

This is the type of alert that you could expect to see if you are caught downloading things illegally. We know Comcast’s focus will be on TV shows, movies, and music. But it is not clear whether e-book pirates will be notified as well. Many experts believe this is the wrong approach by internet service providers. At the same time, this does beat getting slapped with a huge fine for downloading a simple song or movie. Will these new measures stop piracy? That is debatable.
