Amazon: No Free Kindle Phone In 2013
0It seems many folks are excited about the idea of Amazon releasing a free smartphone. Such a phone would run a heavily modified version of Android to be mainly a content consumption device. Releasing free Kindle phones would be a very risky strategy for Amazon. The bad new is Amazon is not releasing a Kindle phone this year. If it did, it wouldn’t be free.
We can’t say we are very surprised by this. Nothing is free for life and giving phones away for free may not be the best idea for Amazon to keep its profit numbers respectable. Amazon could always release a heavily subsidized phone in the future. A phone with a crippled Android simply does not excite us though.
