Samsung Files for Page Turning Patent?

It seems Apple is not the only company with the habit of patenting even the simplest ideas. Samsung has now filed for a patent on turning ebook pages. To be exact, Samsung is aiming to patent fancy page-turn effects. The patent discusses various ways one can trigger a page turn.

While the above patent application does have enough for Samsung to go for it, it is not clear the company will be awarded a patent for it. The patent system is a mess, so it does not surprise us to see companies getting away with all kinds of dubious patent ideas.
