Transform Kindle Fire 2 into Full Android Tablet

The Kindle Fire is a pretty decent tablet. But it does have certain limitations that keep it from realizing its full potential as an Android tablet. By installing CyanogenMod 10.1 on the tablet, you can add Android 4.2 with Google Play Store to your device. The Kindle Fire 2 does have a locked bootloader. You need to get into Fastboot mode and install a 2nd-bootloader to get the job done.

The process of hacking a Kindle Fire is not that difficult. But you do want to be aware of the risks. Thankfully, the folks at XDA-Developers have step by step instructions to help you hack your Kindle Fire with more confidence. If you need a full-Android tablet and don’t want to hack your Kindle, you could always invest in a Nexus 7.
