A new Kindle software was released yesterday that brings even more browsing control to the Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire 6.3.1 update will have more parental controls. It gives users the chance to password-protect purchases, disable access to specific content libraries, and completely block access to the Kindle web browser. These updates will be made available on your Kindle Fire automatically.

Here is a summary of what’s included in the Kindle Fire 6.3.1 software update:

  • control over content libraries
  • password protection for Kindle purchases
  • access control for the Silk web browser
  • better content security

The new updates are perfect for those who share their Kindle Fires with those close to them. These will be rolled out over the air in the upcoming days. But you can always download the file manually. Don’t know if you are running this already? Go to Quick Settings > More > Device :: System Version to find that out.
