Amazon won’t be the only e-reader maker with a brand new, fast tablet for the holiday season. B&N has just announced the new NOOK. The new NOOK tablet is not a radical upgrade over its predecessor. But it does have faster hardware inside. For starters, it has a 7 inch screen with 16 GB storage. It is thinner and lighter. It has 1 GB RAM and offers about 11.5 hours of battery life.

The new NOOK tablet will go for $249. It will start shipping on November 17th. NOOK tablet will support Netflix video streaming and magazines. It will come with a free cloud service. Many Android games are supported too. Is it better than Kindle Fire? It does have more storage but costs $50 more. Amazon does have the upper hand with the recent changes it has made to Amazon Prime.
