It is no secret that B&N is preparing to bring multiple tablets to the market. B&N has had a lot of success with NOOK Color. The 2nd generation NOOK Color will go head to head with Amazon Kindle Fire. There will also be a premium NOOK that will sit somewhere between Kindle Fire and iPad. While we all wait for B&N to unveil what it has to offer, the company is discounting pre-owned NOOKs heavily to get more eyes on the NOOK family.

B&N is now offering pre-owned NOOK Touch and NOOK Color for $79, $149 respectively. B&N is quite aware of the threat that Kindle Fire poses to its NOOK Color. This is clearly an attempt to by the company to stay competitive with Amazon until new NOOK tablets are released to the market. At this point, it is not clear whether B&N will drop NOOK Simple Touch’s price to make it more competitive against Kindle Touch.
