nod

We are going to see lots of wearable devices in the next few years. It should go without saying that some will be silly while a small few will  be game changers. Nod  happens to be a smart ring that lets you interact with apps and control your smart home systems with gestures. Let’s say you have a Nest thermostat or Philips Hue lighting system at home. With Nod, you can control them with your gestures. Nod also lets you present information, go through your photos, play games, change TV channels, and more.

Nod is compatible with Nest, Philips Hue lights, Belkin WeMo devices, Google GLASS, GoPro, Linux/Windows/Android/OS X/iOS, PC games, Powerpoint, and more. It is waterproof and rated at IP68. The device is available for $149 and will ship in Fall of 2014.
