Amazon has just cut prices for Kindle Fire HD 8.9 inch devices. Both WiFi and 4G version have gotten a discount. The WiFi model is now available for $269 whereas the 4G version of Kindle Fire 8.9″ HD is going for $399.
We’re thrilled with customer reaction to Kindle Fire HD 8.9 … As we expand Kindle Fire HD 8.9” to Europe and Japan, we’ve been able to increase our production volumes and decrease our costs. Across our business at Amazon, whenever we are able to create cost efficiencies like this, we want to pass the savings along to our customers,
explained Dave Limp, Vice President, Amazon Kindle. The price cut is significant enough to encourage more people to pick up these larger Kindles. Amazon continues to be aggressive as its Kindle tablets gain a significant market share among Android tablets. No word on when the next Kindle Fire will be released.
